Bio

Ellen Tremiti grew up in rural New Jersey, spent some formative years in Boston, and now resides in Los Angeles. She studied creative writing and film at Emerson College where she was mentored by DeWitt Henry, memoirist, novelist, and founding editor of Ploughshares. Her memoir work produced during this time won an EVVY Award for Outstanding Nonfiction Prose. Upon graduation, she moved to Hollywood and pursued a career in the entertainment industry with reckless abandon. Her prose has appeared in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine and others. Her short story, "The Influencer," was selected for The Best Mystery Stories of the Year: 2022 anthology (Mysterious Press). Her screenwriting includes an action adventure series for ViacomCBS and a mystery TV pilot, Gumheels, that landed on Coverfly’s Red List and won the 2022 WeScreenplay TV Pilot Lab. She was named as one of Coverfly's Best Unrepped Writers of the Year.

Ellen balances life as a writer with the bustle of the studio system, working as a script and story supervisor for feature films produced by Warner Bros. and DreamWorks Animation. While lawyers and judges run deep in her family, she is the first to unravel mysteries for storytelling purposes rather than legal proceedings. Recently, Ellen completed her first novel and was selected for Coverfly's Career Mentorship Program. She is a proud member of The Mystery Writers of America and Women Who Submit
